Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at our Brantford facility.

Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager and working independently or with cross-functional teams, this person will lead or support projects and activities to launch and/or improve manufacturing processes.


Scope of work:

  • Process design
  • Specifications for tooling, forming equipment, assembly equipment
  • Vendor quote and selection activity
  • Working with equipment vendors to review design and ensure timelines are met
  • Cost reduction initiatives affecting equipment layouts, work flow, change overs, material usage, throughput, productivity, quality
  • Problem investigation
  • Capital installations
  • Development projects to improve current or next generation equipment and processes
  • Create, manage, or update timelines for projects, or in support of program launch or change management activity
  • Work instructions and training

Responsibilities:

  • Keep projects on track to meet deliverables, communicate progress, risks
  • Costing inputs as required for product launch or change requests
  • Initiate and/or lead improvement activity to meet targets
  • Integrate changes with plant functional groups – communication/documentation, training
  • Upgrade and maintain technical standards
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Four (4) year university engineering program or equivalent
    • Mechanical preferred, PLC knowledge / experience a significant asset
  • 4-5 years manufacturing experience and/or commensurate accomplishments
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, materials, tooling, presses, pneumatics, hydraulics, controls
  • Strong interest and demonstrated accomplishment in technical improvement activity
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with functional groups and at multi-level
  • Desires to take ownership of projects and thrives on accomplishment

Desired:

  • Working familiarity with TS16949/ISO14001, APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA
  • AutoCAD
  • Experience in vacuum forming and/or compression molding, robotics
